Todo Municipio tiene su Dirección de Catastro cuya finalidad es tener un inventario o padrón de todos los inmuebles que se encuentren dentro de su límite municipal. Cada inmueble tiene su expediente referenciado con una clave catastral única, en este expediente existe información escrita y gráfica, ésta última siendo a través de  Planos Catastrales .
